- Ensuring the safety of persons who come into contact with electrical equipment or exposed parts.
The Electrical Safety Regulation (2002)
The regulation sets out specific minimum requirements about electrical equipment and installations that the employer must do at the workplace. These requirements include: - Protecting extension leads and cables from damage
- Using safety switches in certain situations
- Inspecting, testing and tagging certain electrical equipment on a regular basis
- Removing defective equipment form service
The Workplace Health and Safety Act (1995)
This Act outlines the obligations of employers, principal contractors and persons in charge of workplaces with regard to ensuring the safety of employees and visitors to the workplace, as well as requirements for conducting risk assessments, appointment of Workplace Health & Safety Officers and reporting of incidents.
